Emprica!
A downloadable game
PowderSim is a giant science playground where you can mess around with different materials and see what happens. It's a 2D pixel-based sandbox I'm making in Godot, inspired by Powder Toy, but I want to take the idea much further. You can play around with powders, liquids, gases, metals, chemicals, and all sorts of other materials, watching them fall, flow, burn, melt, freeze, and react with each other. I want the game to have proper heat and temperature mechanics, pressure, vacuum, electricity, and even things like pollution and fuel. For example, you could heat up ice until it melts, keep heating it until it becomes steam, then cool the steam and watch it turn back into water. You could set things on fire and see how the flames spread, pour acid onto metal and watch it corrode, or run electricity through conductive materials and see them heat up. You could build sealed chambers to experiment with pressure, mix different chemicals to see how they react, or create your own materials by changing their properties. There are also plans for ragdoll physics, more advanced experiments, and a material editor that lets you customize and even program new substances. The whole point is to let you experiment freely, combine things in unexpected ways, and see what kind of chaos you can create. I don't want it to just be another falling-sand game where you drop water and watch it go splish. I want it to feel like an actual little digital laboratory where you can test ideas, break things, discover weird reactions, and build your own experiments.
